About the Opera: Through this adaptation of Harold Pinter’s play, the Performance Workshop began to tap the talent potential of the young generation of theatre artists in Taiwan. Director Chen Li-hua, Scenic and Lighting Designer Samuel Wang and Costume Designer Li Ke-hsing all worked in their first mainstage professional production. The cast featured the stage debut of film star Hu Ying-meng, who shared the stage with the Performance Workshop’s main actor, Lee Li-chun, and Hsieh Chih-chang.

The production was the first exposure of Taiwan audiences to “Pinter-esque” theatre, and seen in the media as a bold experiment that cultivated new possibilities for theatre in Taiwan. The production itself was noted for its clean, precise staging, and fine performances by the actors in difficult roles.
